Challenge

Kemano CCS set out to establish a large-scale hemp cultivation operation on 30 acres of land in Manitoba. Launched from Fort Langley, BC while I was attending Trinity Western University, the project required navigating complex federal and provincial licensing frameworks, securing significant capital from private investors, and building agricultural infrastructure from scratch in a remote community with limited access to specialized contractors and equipment.

Approach

I led the venture end-to-end: structuring the corporate entity, developing the investor pitch materials, and personally managing the capital raise that brought in $1.2M from private investors. On the operational side, I oversaw site selection and land acquisition in Manitoba, coordinated with Health Canada on licensing requirements, and managed the buildout of cultivation infrastructure including irrigation systems, processing facilities, and storage. I developed the go-to-market strategy targeting both domestic CBD extraction markets and export opportunities.

Results

• $1.2M raised from private investors through direct capital raise
• 30-acre cultivation site secured and infrastructure built in Manitoba
